Waipukurau

“Wai” is te reo Maori for water and “pukurau” is a type of fungus that grows around Lake Hatuma on the outskirts of town. This edible puffball mushroom is said to be helpful for indigestion and stomach aches.

Waipukurau is the largest town in Central Hawke’s Bay, on the east coast of Te Ika-a-Māui, New Zealand’s North Island.
